CAIDOV Kicks Against Scrapping Or Merging Of Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) With Nigerian Police

A non governmental organization, Centre for injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a press conference held today at International Press Centre, (IPC), Ogba, Lagos, kicked against the scrapping or merging of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) with Nigerian Police.
*According to its convener, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, who addressed ladies and gentlemen of the press today, “any attempt to scrap or merge the two security agencies will be resisted by with every means humanly possible as it seems President Muhammadu Buhari is trying to implement Oronsaye’s report on the scrapping or merger.

He further made it clear that CAIDOV is not in anyway associated with the NSCDC or anyway connected to the security enforcement agency. But that the centre has decided to take this cause upon itself because it adhors injustice as a promoter of peace and progress of Nigeria as a country.

Comrade Soloki submitted that this is not the time to scrap or merge NSCDC with the Police when the country with over 200 million population and less than one million security personnel across board is facing all manners of security challenges.

To CAIDOV, merging NSCDC with Police is a marriage of inconvenience that will do the country no good, and those calling for such should have a rethink in alignment with former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie who earlier appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari not to be stampeded into merging the Nigerian Police with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), as being canvassed in some quarters.
