Family and Friends Converge in Lagos to Celebrate Hajia Nimota Aduke Suleiman At 70

The Suleiman Oba clan of the Olola Family of Ajikobi, Ilorin rolled out the drums last Sunday to celebrate a beautiful queen and their adorable and sociable matriarch who clocked 70th.

It was a compact but classy celebrity event with more than enough to eat, drink and take away as family and friends, associates and well-wishers converged in Lagos to celebrate the wonderful blessings of Almighty Allah in the life of Hajia Nimota Aduke Suleiman.

A human resources manager and MD/CEO of NASAT & SONS LTD, Hajia Nimota Aduke Suleiman is a detribalized Nigerian, who is well-traveled and has friends from across the country. Incredibly, Hajia Suleiman speaks English, Ibo and Yoruba fluently.

The birthday celebration was a roll-call of societal heavyweights and leaders of commerce, industry and the professions. The celebrant is proudly celebrated by her seven biological children, 19 grandchildren and countless adopted children who mount the podium in turn to eulogize the septuagenarian woman of substance.

Saudi based daughter of the celebrant, Mrs. Asia Bola Magaji, was highly emotional as she shed tears of joy in not only appreciating God who spared her mother’s life till now but for being unable to physically attend the occasion. She captured the attention of guests in a life video telecast. The mass communications graduate, lawyer and CEO of Nokbah Travels and Tours Nig Ltd, based in Saudi Arabia, who participated remotely, controls a firm specializing in Hajj, Umrah and international travel packages.

Earlier, Bola Magaji’s elder sister and the celebrant’s first daughter, Mrs. Habitat Ronke Edun, showered encomiums on her mother, describing the celebrant as a pillar of strength for anybody that has had anything to do with her in life. Ronke Edun, an economist and Sango-Ota, Ogun State based Fashion designer, prayed God to continually spare the life of the celebrant so as to reap more in her fountain of knowledge.

The IT/Telecom entrepreneur and media personality demonstrated how his mother, Hajia Suleiman serves as a mother to many adopted children from her extended family and unrelated others. According to him, the celebrant is not Mummy to her biological children only, but to many adopted others, “some of whom she sponsored through schools from primary through secondary to higher institutions, and some of whom were also at the event to show appreciation, celebrate with Mummy and share in her joy of attaining the blessed age of a septuagenarian”.

Hajia Nimota Aduke Suleiman is a blessed mother of two other lawyers; Mrs. Maryam Atinuke Danfulani, an Abuja-based legal practitioner and state counsel with the National Hajj Commission, Mr. Habeeb Tosho Suleiman, a legal expert in corporate, finance and international business laws who works with the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, NSIA, Abuja.

Barrister Tosho stole the show when he seized the microphone from the High Life musician and demonstrated musical skill by entertaining celebrant and guests with ‘Reality’, the last album of the late Fuji icon, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister. It was indeed dancing time as ‘Alhaji Agba’ reincarnated at Hajia Aduke Suleiman’s birthday celebration.

Hajia Aduke is also the proud mother of Mrs. Sifau Mojisola AbdulFatai, an historian and formerly on-air personality, OAP with FRCN and Miss Hawa Temitope Suleiman, an administrator and former civil servant with the Lagos State Sports Commission who is now the MD/CEO of Hawsult Nigeria Limited, a firm specializing in managing high profile corporate and social events in Lagos.

The celebrant’s husband of 52 years is the Honorable Alhaji Suleiman Oba Olola, a retired administrator, civil servant and politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives in the defunct Nigerian Third Republic.

In her tribute address on behalf of the celebrant’s friends, Hajia Oba AbdulRaheem, wife of a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission said Hajia Nimota Suleiman is a lover of humanity. She stated that the celebrant is a generous and charitable woman who has done so so much for her children and friends, and associates; adding that “Hajia Nimota can go to any length to protect her children and anybody she truly loves. She does not always care about herself alone. She is a woman of multiple talents who go extra mile to provide support for people”. Continuing, “In fact, she over does some of these kind gestures sometimes that I wonder how she sustains them”, Mrs. Oba, wife of former gubernatorial aspirant in Kwara state opined.

A blessing to her natal family of Sakariya Dogo of Isale Compound in Pakata and to her matrimonial family of the Ololas of Ajikobi quarters of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, Hajia Nimota Aduke was born in Onitsha on 22nd June 1952. She attended primary school in Onitsha. Her secondary education which started in Onitsha was interrupted by the Nigerian civil war, upon which she had to relocate with her family to Ilorin and later Ibadan where she completed higher college.

She had professional training in secretarial studies, accounting and bookkeeping, and later joined Geri Alimi hospital as a Cashier, where she rose to be Accounts and Purchasing Supervisor.

In an interview with PRESSTV at the occasion, Hajia Nimota hailed her mother for her success in the journey of life and advised the younger generation to be diligent and to persevere in their dealings. She recalled how she was brought up by parents who never differentiated members of their family from others. The celebrant who thanks her friends, family and other guests at the occasion traced her life from cradle through schools and paid employment before she retired early into her own business which started as Al-Nasat Stores but later upgraded and incorporated as NASAT & SONS LTD. Her company is a facilities management firm that specializes in academic hostels operations and management while she also trades in provisions and fast moving consumer goods.

According to the celebrant, “I was trained by a mother who had the fear of God in and who treated all people nicely and equally. The lesson, I learnt from my parent was to believe in integrity, sincerity, prayer and to work hard wherever I meet myself. This I obeyed and hold tenaciously till date. I am delighted that I have imparted these values into many younger ones including my children and others. And I thank God for the lives of people I’m blessed with as all of them are doing well”.

Asked how she sustained her marriage for over 52 years, Hajia Nimota advises young couples to be prayerful, and to tolerate each other as the only solution to collapse marriage is endurance and tolerance. “The younger Nigerians should be mindful of their lifestyles, watch their tongues and follow the path of peace and tolerance’’.

Other dignitaries at the occasion include Hajia Maryam Ayodele, an international business woman trading in luxury apparels and jewelries, Alhaji Baba AbdulRazak, younger brother of the incumbent governor of Kwara State.
